This page shows how to remove a YYJ bearing using an ordinary electrician’s tool.  This tool is cheap, easily found in most hardware departments or hardware stores, and very effective.  If you (or a family member) are handy, you might just have one around the house.  This works for both large and small YYJ bearings.

How to Maintain Your YYJ Yo-Rings

Here’s a tool that is really great for untangling and unknotting your string without taking apart your yo.  It is also great for removing shims from your YYJ yo.  The tool is cheap, available in the Wal-Mart pharmacy/ toothbrush section (or your favorite pharmacy).  It is small enough to carry around in your pocket, on your backpack, in your yo case, or wherever.  I carry mine everywhere.
