Here's a written explanation of the various versions of the Renegade...
1st-generation: dull black plastic, hex nuts, and spacers prone to string
slippage.
2nd-generation: shiny durable plastic, star nuts, revised spacers that prevent
string slippage (spacers are aluminum, btw). Says "SuperYo Renegade
YoYo" on the side.
3rd-generation: similar to the 2nd-gens, but has a smaller string gap and says
"SuperYo! superyo.com Renegade" on the side.
4th-generation: similar to the 3rd-gens, but comes with one brass spacer and one
aluminum spacer. This restores the string gap to the size of the 2nd-gens. Also made
with new molds that (1) make the star nuts fit tighter so they don't fall out
when you unscrew the yo-yo (2) allow for a smaller string gap when the yo-yo
assembled in the imperial shape.
5th-generation: these are the marbleized/glow Renegades. Similar to the 4th-gens,
but a stronger material was used for the star nuts. Some of the newer 5th-gens come
with two brass spacers, instead of a mix.
