Mission Statment

The BYYA has an objective to promote yo-yoing in the UK as an Art form as well as a Sport. To help players develop their skill as far as possible and share their tricks and knowledge and to push the boundaries of yo-yoing. Ensuring yo-yos stay fun for the long term.

THAT’S ALL WELL AND GOOD BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

“Promote yo-yoing in the UK” Whether this means helping sort out a demonstraor for an event or running a workshop, the BYYA will do its best to help.

“Art form as well as a Sport.” This refers to help educate players (as well as the public), helping their creative juices flow whether it be through tricks, performances, clip videos or modifications on yoyos (commonly known in the yo-yo scene as ‘mods’). As well as establishing UK and World Yo-Yo records, helping organise yoyo competitions, running the annual UK National Yo-Yo Contest and communicating with other national associations, the European Yo-Yo Association and the World Yo-Yo Contest.

“Help players develop their skill as far as possible.” Encouraging yoyo meets, clubs and workshops, which allow other players to help one another. This is also referred to by “share their tricks and knowledge” but furthermore this means helping players find books, videos and web sites that will help players progress.

“Push the boundaries of yo-yoing. Ensuring it stays fun”. This simply sums up the BYYAs attitude to yo-yoing, it mean that yoyos are for everyone, no matter what their age, gender, race, level of skill or even type of yoyo they use! There is no end to the things that can be done with a yoyo (or two!) and fun should always be at the base!

“For the long term” has been included to remind people that yo-yoing has more to offer than a craze can bring and that there will always be yoyoers throwing and therefore always a need for the BYYA and general support for players.
