BYYA
National Skill Level (SL) Award System

Aim

The aim of this Award System is to give both the total beginner and the experienced players focus and goals. Help produce players with a good all round skill level and understanding whilst still helping players mature in their own chosen area of yo-yoing. The SL system will aslo help give players some experience of basic judging skills. The skill that is required to reach SL'X' could be used as a great indicator as to how technically proficient a player and the UK as a whole is. Levels will be tested when ever possible, at events, meets, competitions etc. A level can only be tested by a BYYA recognised judge. To become a recognised judge for the National Award Skill Level system you must have either passed the level above that which you are testing (for instance to judge SL1 you must have passed SL2) and have the support of another judge at that level (SL2 in this case) or had special written or verbal agreement from the BYYA and then receive confirmation that you are qualified to judge up to a certian SL (in this case SL1)'.

If you wish to become a a qualified judge please get in contact.

Rules

Normal BYYA standard rules apply as well as a couple of others:

If more than 5 inches of the string remain outside the Yo-Yo it is a miss.

There will be a trick box/circle; ANY throw inside the trick box will be counted as an attempt.

When being tested and not in the trick box/circle ONLY the following throws are allowed; Gravity Pull, Sleeper, Forward Pass and 1 loop or string adjustments.

You must be able do to the previous level before you advance (up to SL10) however tricks in the same level can be attempted in any order.

A level must be judged by a BYYA recognised judge that is recognised up to that level.

Judges and BYYA decision is final.

For any queries please contact the BYYA.
